Happy Birthday Pancakes | Pet Pen Pals

Yesterday was another birthday for Roux & me. Can you believe it? It has been eight years since we came into mom & dad’s life and well, pretty much overtook it. Yes, we own them but shhhhh, don’t let them know. They like to think they own us. We let them have their pipe dream!

Anyway mom and dad took us on a long walk in the subdivision this morning and then when we returned, mom made us birthday pancakes. Woof woof! Yeah.

There are certain sounds we know and these are what we heard this morning to indicate pancakes. The sounds of a mixer and the clank of the griddle being placed on the counter. The tick, tick of the griddle as it is heating up. SMACK! Oh, sorry, that was an involuntary smack as I recount the fun and anticipation form this morning.

Anyway, so there was a little mishap with the pancake batter dispenser. It kind of fell off the counter and well…. we like pancake batter when it’s cooked or not. Roux wasn’t as lucky as I was because she was splattered with the toppling dispenser.

While mom and dad were busy on clean up duty, we cleaned up the floor where most of the batter fell. It also went on the counter, the refrigerator, etc. We told them not to worry, we had the floor and were “handling it.”

Clean up done, mom put on the cakes. Sniff, sniff, sniff. Can you smell the cakes? Mmmmmmm, we were in heaven waiting for the cakes to cook. Oooo, I can hear them sizzle. Well, not really but it makes for a good story doesn’t it? So finally, they were done and mom let them cool enough so we could have them.

Happy Birthday Boudreaux!

Bellies full we decided to take a nap. Long walks and pancakes are such a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.

Happy Birthday, USA!

Hooray! This was the best Independence Day ever! Boudreaux and I had company over for a holiday barbecue. Well, really mom and dad did but we got the benefit! There were three little girls (dad’s nieces) who were messy eaters! We got to vacuum up mac and cheese, hot dog, baked beans and cake off the floor. We say invite them over some more!

Afterwards, we took a long nap before the fireworks started. Boudreaux is not so fond of fireworks but I don’t pay them much attention. We went to downtown Houston to see the big Shell fireworks display. Uncle Chad just happened upon the perfect spot for fireworks viewing. The humans got out their chairs and cooler and set up right on the sidewalk. Then, the show started. It was like we were seeing them in 3D! When they burst in mid-air, we could literally feel the paper and debris hitting us where we stood on the ground. It was truly bow-wow-beautiful! We came home exhausted but very happy that we are American dogs, that we get to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Thanks to the Troops for keeping it that way!

Baroo, for now! Time for a nap.
